THE EVENT
The UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships is the main competition of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in the discipline. For most professional athletes, the World Championships represent the ultimate goal of the season, further reinforcing its importance.
Brazil’s relationship with the event began in 2018, when the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) organized the Para-cycling Track World Championships for the first time, also in Rio de Janeiro. That year, the championship was a pioneer among all sports disciplines, as it was the first World Championships to be held within the legacy facilities of the Rio 2016 Games. In 2024, the city once again hosted the competition at a strategic moment, on the eve of the Paris Paralympic Games.
Now, in 2025, Rio de Janeiro will once again host the World Championships, from October 16 to 19, reaffirming Brazil’s leading role as a reference in the organization of major international cycling events. This edition marks the beginning of a new Paralympic cycle and will bring together the world’s top para-cycling athletes.
The continuity of this trajectory strengthens CBC’s position on the international stage and highlights the credibility achieved by the organization. More than just hosting major events, the Confederation demonstrates its ability to turn legacy into concrete opportunities, consolidating its contribution to the development of para-cycling.
