Countdown to the 2025 Para-cycling Track World Championships in Rio de Janeiro

Competition will bring together athletes from 38 countries at the Olympic/Paralympic Velodrome from October 16 to 19

Rio de Janeiro will once again host one of the biggest events on the international cycling calendar. From October 16 to 19, the Olympic and Paralympic Velodrome, located in the Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca, will stage the 2025 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, welcoming delegations from 38 countries and featuring the world’s top para-cycling athletes.

Organized by the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) in partnership with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the championship reinforces Brazil’s position as a global reference in hosting major Paralympic competitions. The country has previously hosted other UCI World Championships and continues to show consistent growth in para-cycling — both in the number of athletes and in technical and organizational structure.

According to Edilson Rocha, CBC’s Para-cycling Coordinator, the event reaffirms Brazil’s commitment to developing the sport:

“Brazil has built its para-cycling history through hard work, and hosting the World Championships once again shows that we are on the right path. It’s another great opportunity to strengthen our athletes and inspire new generations.”

The races will be open to the public with free admission, and live broadcasts will be available on the official CBC and UCI YouTube channels, as well as on LMC Plus, available through Claro TV and Vivo TV. The venue’s infrastructure has been carefully designed to ensure full accessibility, featuring adapted areas and a trained team of volunteers ready to assist athletes, spectators, and media representatives.

The event also strengthens the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Velodrome, one of the most advanced cycling venues in the Americas, which remains active on the UCI international calendar. More information is available at www.2025uciparatrack.com and www.uci.ch.

The 2025 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships are organized by the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) and TBA Sports Management, under the supervision of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), with sponsorship from the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), Shimano, and the Federal Government of Brazil, through the Ministry of Sports. The event also receives support from Santini, the City of Rio de Janeiro, and the Cycling Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FECIERJ).
